The best erotica elicits an emotion within the reader, obviously, but by guiding the reader to think personally, not laying everything out there. I'll write about this. Your criticism and choice is valid and you've expressed it well. I think someone said the most erotic movie they saw was either Shakespeare in Love or a production like it--that the lead (I can't remember) taking off her silk glove and nothing else was quite erotic. I believe that's the standard to adhere to. It's not the outside we're capturing but the inner world and emotion. I fall short in that regard but ... I want to respond more, but I'll turn it into an article.
